Foggy Forest

Here's a piece that I made this winter during one of our man snow days. "Foggy Forest", 18" x 24", made through a combination of ink painting and digital work. This piece is available right here in my print shop as a high quality print, as well as on a variety of products.

A colorful new digital piece from this summer, titled "Murmuration", 24"x18".

This new piece is inspired by flocks of starlings, or a murmuration of starlings. It is available right here in my shop on prints and products from my shop.

Friends of St. Regis Mountain Fire Tower

Back in June, I entered a contest to design  a patch for the Friends of St. Regis Mountain Fire Tower, and I'm happy to announce that I won!  I've been having a lot of fun collecting patches for the mountains I've climbed in the Adirondacks, and I'm so excited that I get to add something I designed to that collection.

It is now available as a 3" embroidered patch if you make a $5 donation through the Friends of St. Regis website. Any donations are tax deductible, and the money goes towards the restoration and maintenance of the fire tower and the accompanying trails.

Radiant Sun

This design was inspired by an old, leaded glass, half-circle window that I saw on a historic home tour. I combined vector illustrations with watercolor painting to create it.

Diamond Patterns - New Art and Shop Items

I recently made a new geometric pattern series that is inspired by colors found in nature. I looked to the land, the water, and the sky when choosing my color schemes.  Each of these patterns is available for sale in my Society6 shop.

There have also been some item updates to my shop. There are several new phone case models available, including Galaxy S6 cases and iPhone 6 Power cases. I also now have leggings in my shop! Currently, only these new geometric patterns are available, but I will be adding more designs soon.

Chromatic

This illustration, titled Chromatic, was created using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. It was inspired by the repetitive radial designs that are created by spirographs, kaleidoscopes, and other similar things.

Chromatic is currently available for sale in my Society6 shop on a variety of items, including wall clocks, area rugs, and tote bags.

Cool Angle

I've really grown to enjoy playing with shapes to make designs and patterns in Illustrator.  It's almost like creating a puzzle in reverse, making shapes and colors that fit together in a visually pleasing composition.

The White Whale

It was so nice to have a quiet afternoon yesterday and to get a chance to play with my watercolor paints.  The school year is winding down, which brings with it a whirlwind of events.  The next few weeks are going to have all sorts of things going on for my classroom at school - final projects, preparing for the first annual Night Of The Arts student art show, cleaning the room, etc. - so I'm glad I had a chance to get this image out of my head and down on paper yesterday.

The whole thing was done mostly with watercolor paint and masking fluid (you can see me peeling up the masking fluid in the photo below).  I added some extra texture at the very end in Photoshop.  

This painting is currently available for sale right here through my shop.  It looks particularly good on things like the area rugs and the shower curtains.

Earth

It's so nice to have some time this week to make a few new pieces of art!  Now that the musical is done and over at work (it turned out great, I'll have to post some photos from it on here), I finally have brain space available to devote to making new art.  

I started this one yesterday, inspired by all of the Earth Day stuff that I was seeing everywhere, and finished it this morning.  I've also added it to my Society6 shop, so it is now available on a multitude of products.  The shop has expanded over the past few weeks to include shower curtains and rugs!  I'm working on going back through some of my older designs to resize them for rugs, but I think it's pretty cool that the option is now available.  

Also, now through April 27 at Midnight PDT, you can get free worldwide shipping from my shop!  The only items not included in the free shipping promotion are throw pillows with inserts (empty pillow cases get free shipping), rugs, stretched canvases, and framed art prints.

Winter Fox - new art!

I was able to find some time today to put together a new piece of art before going back to work from Thanksgiving break.  This is a mixed media piece, combining ink paintings that I scanned in to the computer and then colored and layered in Photoshop.  The whole thing came together surprisingly fast - it's always nice when that happens!  

This design is also available right here in my Society6 shop.  Free Worldwide Shipping is still available from my shop, but it ends at the end of the day tomorrow (Monday, December 2nd).  Everything in my shop, except for stretched canvas prints and throw pillows with inserts, qualifies for free shipping.  

Colorful Vintage Keys

I recently put together a more colorful version of my Vintage Keys illustration.  I thought it made for a fun alternative.  The new version of this design can also be found right here in my Society6 shop.

Fox In The Leaves

This weekend, I finished putting together a new piece of autumn inspired art.  Autumn is my favorite season - the smells, the food, the colors!  I love everything about this time of year.  This illustration is a sort of seasonal companion piece to Rabbits In The Garden.  

The illustration is available for sale through my Society6 shop.  I think that it looks especially nice on the tote bags and pillows.  Speaking of tote bags, the design style for the printing of the bags has been upgraded so that the print now fills the whole side of the bag instead of printing on the off-white canvas color like before.  I think the change is a big upgrade and love how it looks.  

Vintage Keys

This weekend I finished a new design for my Society6 shop.  The design was inspired by my small collection of vintage keys (pictured below) that I've picked up at various flea markets and antique shops.  I love the look of old keys, I think they hold much more of a sense of adventure and mystery than our modern keys.  Plus, the shapes are certainly much more fun than modern keys.  

This design is now available in my Society6 shop.  There have been a few updates throughout my shop - throw pillows now come in an outdoor fabric option and there are also new phone cases for new models of smart phones.  

Vintage Arrows

Let's kick off August with some new artwork!  This morning I found myself browsing Etsy while finishing my coffee and stumbled across these vintage arrows that were being featured on the front page.  I've looked at vintage arrows many times before in antique shops and in photos, finding myself drawn to the colors and patterns.  I've often thought how cool it would be to have a bunch of them to put in a vase to use as a centerpiece or a mantel decoration.  I especially like the variety of stripes, and the fact that they're vintage gives them some nice character.  Those scratches and tiny paint chips are a good thing. 

As I was looking at the photos in the Etsy shop's page, I soon found myself thinking that I should make some artwork based on vintage arrows.  A little while later, some work in Illustrator, and here we are!

Two Whales

This illustration shows two whales swimming in the ocean.  I always enjoy working with ocean color palettes. This piece was also inspired by stained glass and batik artwork.

Not Today

"There is only one thing we say to Death."  Here's a design that Game Of Thrones fans might like.  If you click on the larger view, you can see the wolves that are tucked away in the circle. 

I've been wanting to try a design using hand drawn or painted lettering, and I thought that this phrase would be perfect to try out for a design.  I painted the words with ink and then scanned and assembled everything in Photoshop.
