I recently finished a new watercolor pattern piece titled "Into The Blue", inspired by Moroccan tiles.

Radiant Sun

This design was inspired by an old, leaded glass, half-circle window that I saw on a historic home tour. I combined vector illustrations with watercolor painting to create it.

Diamond Patterns - New Art and Shop Items

I recently made a new geometric pattern series that is inspired by colors found in nature. I looked to the land, the water, and the sky when choosing my color schemes.  Each of these patterns is available for sale in my Society6 shop.

There have also been some item updates to my shop. There are several new phone case models available, including Galaxy S6 cases and iPhone 6 Power cases. I also now have leggings in my shop! Currently, only these new geometric patterns are available, but I will be adding more designs soon.

Chromatic

This illustration, titled Chromatic, was created using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. It was inspired by the repetitive radial designs that are created by spirographs, kaleidoscopes, and other similar things.

Chromatic is currently available for sale in my Society6 shop on a variety of items, including wall clocks, area rugs, and tote bags.

Cool Angle

I've really grown to enjoy playing with shapes to make designs and patterns in Illustrator.  It's almost like creating a puzzle in reverse, making shapes and colors that fit together in a visually pleasing composition.

Colorful Vintage Keys

I recently put together a more colorful version of my Vintage Keys illustration.  I thought it made for a fun alternative.  The new version of this design can also be found right here in my Society6 shop.

Fox In The Leaves

This weekend, I finished putting together a new piece of autumn inspired art.  Autumn is my favorite season - the smells, the food, the colors!  I love everything about this time of year.  This illustration is a sort of seasonal companion piece to Rabbits In The Garden.  

The illustration is available for sale through my Society6 shop.  I think that it looks especially nice on the tote bags and pillows.  Speaking of tote bags, the design style for the printing of the bags has been upgraded so that the print now fills the whole side of the bag instead of printing on the off-white canvas color like before.  I think the change is a big upgrade and love how it looks.  

Vintage Keys

This weekend I finished a new design for my Society6 shop.  The design was inspired by my small collection of vintage keys (pictured below) that I've picked up at various flea markets and antique shops.  I love the look of old keys, I think they hold much more of a sense of adventure and mystery than our modern keys.  Plus, the shapes are certainly much more fun than modern keys.  

This design is now available in my Society6 shop.  There have been a few updates throughout my shop - throw pillows now come in an outdoor fabric option and there are also new phone cases for new models of smart phones.  

Tree Rings

Yesterday I finished making this tree ring pattern in Illustrator.  I love all of the naturally occurring patterns that can be found outdoors, and tree rings are a great example of that.  

I've added this design to my Society6 shop.  I removed the background color for the t-shirt option so that the tree rings can be printed on any color you want.  Take a look, and have fun with the color combinations!

Upstream Downstream

There's nothing like some hot weather to make me dream of cool blue waters.  Ocean blues and aquas have always been one of my favorite color palettes.  I used Illustrator and Photoshop to create this pattern.

Golden Honeycomb

I love painting on a Saturday.  It's such a nice way to start the weekend.  After having some coffee and a tasty breakfast, I sat down and put this together.  The completed painting measures 9" x 12".  Planning out the pattern with masking fluid took the most time in the whole process.  Once that part was done, the actual painting of it went very quickly.

And let's be honest, sometimes peeling off the masking fluid once you're done painting and everything is dry is sometimes the best part.  It's almost like magic, seeing those crisp white spots of the paper appear as you peel off the latex.  

Golden Honeycomb is now available in my Society6 shop.  I love how it looks on the throw pillows and iPhone cases!  I'm thinking of re-coloring this painting as well to make a few different color options available.  Is there a particular color that you would like to see this in?  Let me know in the comments!

Circles - A Study in Warm

This was the second watercolor pattern experiment that I painted this weekend.  

I've posted this painting in my Society6 shop, and I think the pattern looks especially nice on the throw pillows.  It could be fun to pair it with the cool color pattern that I posted yesterday to have some contrast in a room.

Circles - A Study in Cool

Today I wanted to experiment with making a watercolor based pattern.  It was a relaxing way to spend my afternoon, and I'm happy with how the painting turned out.  I wound up making two paintings, the second of which I'll be posting tomorrow. 

I've posted this painting in my Society6 shop, and I think the pattern looks especially nice on the throw pillows.

Shire Toile

While looking at some toile patterns, I thought what would fit that kind of pastoral theme better than Middle-earth's Shire and its residents?  At least, I know I would rather have some hobbits and a visiting wizard tucked away on a patterned pillow instead of some random shepherds and milk maids.

I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and make a Shire themed toile pattern a reality.  After lots of drawing on Bristol board with my trusty micron pens and some arranging in Photoshop, I came up with what you see below.  I have also included a closer look at some of the details in the second image.

Rabbits In The Garden

 

It's been a productive Sunday! Here is a new illustration titled "Rabbits In The Garden". I was in the mood to draw something to do with spring, so I made this in Adobe Illustrator over the span of a few hours today.

If you'd like, you can even play an "I Spy" game with this illustration. You can look for and count rabbits, snails, carrots, radishes, mushrooms, daisies, forget-me-nots, and more! Have fun!
