Here's a few sketchbook pages from an afternoon of drawing yesterday. We went to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo to draw the animals and take advantage of the sunshine.
I went to the Seneca Park Zoo yesterday to do some sketches of the animals. It was pretty overcast, and eventually rained later, but it was still nice to get outside and take advantage of the fall weather. I need to do more art outdoors. I want to try and do some watercolor landscapes outside once the leaves start changing colors more. I've been bringing my camera along in addition to my sketchbook when going to the zoo to draw. This little meerkat was so entertaining with his posing that I had to include some of the photos of him in this post.
Sketches from September 5th at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo. It was hot, so a lot of the animals were sleeping or hiding, but there were still plenty of good drawing opportunities.
I went to the Seneca Park Zoo with Jeff this weekend to do some sketching. It was pretty hot, so the animals were mostly hiding or sleeping. However, since the animals weren't moving around so much, it provided some good drawing opportunities. The rhinos very conveniently laid down for a nap just as I pulled out my sketchbook, so it was fun to be able to study their faces without them moving around too much.
On Sunday I went to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo with Jeff. I'd never been to that zoo before. We brought our sketchbooks and drew pictures of the animals. We couldn't do too much drawing outside because of the rain, but we did get to draw inside the buildings a lot. I love the penguins. They're just so much fun to watch! I took a bunch of photos at the zoo, but haven't had time to upload those yet. However, I did manage a teeny little video of the penguins swimming. They're like little torpedoes!
