Recent Sketchbook Pages

I started my summer job at the art gallery yesterday. I've been carrying my Moleskine sketchbook around with me, so here are some sketches and notes from the past couple of days.

Jane magazine did a photo shoot with Zooey Deschanel recently where she was dressed like a 1920s beach girl. I was waiting at the MV Airport to pick up my parents and my sister, so that's why I wound up basing a sketch on one of those photos.

Father's Day Card

I had made a card for my dad for myself, my two brothers, and my sister to sign. It's nothing fancy, just cut paper, but he really liked it. :)

Wing Designs

I'm teaching an art class for children again this summer. The day before the new Harry Potter book comes out I'm going to do a Potter themed project with them. They're going to get to make their very own golden snitch. I'm making a demo before hand to have an example to show them, and I was sketching out some wing designs for mine. I haven't cut out the wings yet, but once they're done I'll have to post a picture of the completed golden snitch. I think the kids will like this project.

And still more

More Facebook doodles for friends. What can I say, with house sitting and being between jobs I've had some free time.

Facebook doodles

Facebook installed this new interactive feature called "grafitti wall", which is pretty much a simplified oekaki. Anyhow, I've been doodling pictures for my friends.

Elizabeth - In Progress

This is just continuing with the Pirates picture that I had previously sketched out an idea for. I finished inking Elizabeth last night, so I started doing some coloring today. I haven't gotten too far with the coloring, and I haven't inked the border pieces that are going to go on either side, so those colored panels are just place holders for now. I'm using this picture as an experiment with a new coloring style that I want to try out.

And don't forget! If you are on Live Journal, you can add my sketch blog to your friends page feed.

Dock Diving

I'm always jealous of people that can flip backwards when they go diving. It looks like so much fun, but I'm always terrified that I'll hit my head.
